NSE, IE To Train Youths On Electrical Safety In Lagos State

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ikeja branch, plans to partner with Ikeja Electric to train youths on electrical installation and safety. This intention was made known during its last monthly meeting held at the branch auditorium in Ikeja. The chairperson of the branch, Engr Funmilade  Akingbagbohun said this will form part of the branch Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and that the training will be embarked upon on certain areas in Lagos state.

According to her, NSE will work in conjunction with the Nigerian Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) to recruit youths in selected areas and train them on the knowledge of electrical handling, safety and maintenance.

The chairperson laments on the situation whereby the mismanagement of electrical safety has resulted in many incident of work place accidents and deaths. She went on to announce that the training will commence at Ifako, Ojudu and the environs on the 10th of May this year.

It is expected that the youth ambassadors would serve as the watch dogs in the designated communities to ensure electrical safety and compliance.
