NIEEE Conducts Workshop For LASPOTECH Students

The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Lagos Chapter conducted a workshop for the electrical and electronic engineering students of Lagos State Polytechnic. Engr David Daberechi who was the facilitator at the occasion taught the students extensively on the economy of a transformerless power supply unit.

Though he placed much emphasis on the making of a circuit board of LED/rechargeable bulbs and lamps, he listed several transformerless units to include phones, generators, LED bulbs etc.

He mentioned that though the use of transformerless power units is quite economical, its disadvantage is that the output current would be lesser.

Indepth and practical steps to making an ideal power unit circuit were demonstrated. The workshop ended with the students being given assignments which they are to present at the June meeting of NIEEE.
Expressing delight, the students Secretary General of LASPOTEC chapter Ijomah Emmanuel thanked the NIEEE Lagos Chapter and the facilitator for the opportunity given to learn and hope more of such workshops would be carried out in the future.
The Vice Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of NIEEE Engr Bayo Olusodo who was present, advised the students to take the bold initiative of being student members of NIEEE, as there are many benefits in doing so. He encouraged the students to take their study seriously as they are the hope of future innovators. He posited that though NIEEE is a subsidiary of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, it provides a much more practical and professional platform for electrical engineers to excel.
NIEEE recently inaugurated Yaba chapter of the Institute and is working at having chapters in both University of Lagos and Lagos State University.
