Bose Unveils Sunglasses With Built-In Speakers And Audio Features

Bose has moved into the world of wearable technology, with the launch of its latest product, Bose Frames

From speakers to headphones, Bose is usually known for its audio systems.

Now, the tech giant has moved into the world of wearable technology , with the launch of its latest product, Bose Frames.

Users can sync the sunglasses up to their smartphones via Bluetooth, and play music, just as they would through Bluetooth headphones.

While you might think that the music would be very obvious, it can only be heard by the person wearing the sunglasses, with just 1% of leakage.

While it may not be immediately obvious, the sunglasses have tiny speakers cleverly built into the arms

“They look and act like classic sunglasses — until you turn them on. And then you’re connected to your phone, contacts, the web, and all its audible content, just like headphones.

“There’s nothing else like them — they’re a breakthrough you have to see, wear, and hear to believe.”

Aside from listening to music, users can also make and receive calls through the Bose Frames, thanks to a small microphone, hidden at the front of the frame.

Bose has also included what it’s calling ‘audio augmented reality’ features.

Unlike standard augmented reality, which changes what you see, audio augmented reality changes what you hear.

Bose explained: “It knows where you are and what you’re facing using a 9-axis head motion sensor and the GPS from your iOS or Android device — and automatically adds a layer of audio, connecting that place and time to endless possibilities for travel, learning, entertainment, gaming, and more.”

Users can choose from two styles – the Alto, which has a bulkier, more angular design, or the Rondo, which is rounder and more dainty.

The Bose Frames will go on sale in the UK on May 31, and cost £199.95.
