iOS 13 Update Not For These iPhone And iPad Models In The Autumn

If you’ve got one of these older models, you won’t be getting the next iOS update

Apple released a developer preview of its new iOS 13 mobile operating system at its Worldwide Developer conference yesterday.

The update, which will roll out to iPhone users in the autumn, includes a slew of new features including Dark Mode, new photo and video editing tools and a Google Street View-like Maps experience.

Apple has confirmed that iOS 13 will be available for iPhone 6s and later, which means that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which first came out in 2014, will stay on the existing version.

Some had feared that the iPhone SE, which was released in 2016, could also be excluded from the update, but Apple has confirmed that it will get iOS 13.

As for iPads, none of the existing models will be getting the iOS 13 update. Instead, they will get Apple’s newly-announced iPadOS update , which will be released at the same time and include many of the same features.

iPadOS will be available for the iPad Air 2 and later, all iPad Pro models, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 4 and later.

That means the 2013 iPad Air will miss out on the update, along with the third and second generations of the iPad Mini, and every iPod Touch before the one that Apple just released.

There’s no need to worry about security updates though. Even if your device isn’t eligible for the latest software update, you should continue to get security support from Apple.
