NIEEE Inaugurates Ikot Ekpene Chapter

In an attempt to reach out to her members everywhere in the country, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers has inaugurated her 27th chapter of the Institute. Speaking during the inauguration of the Ikot Ekpene Chapter, the National Chairman, Engr John Funso-Adebayo said it was commendable that the people in the area found it necessary to come together as a professional body to find solutions to perennial problems facing the people through the adoption of engineering best practice.

Prof Lawrence Idemudia Obokhale who delivered a lecture titled Electrical and Electronic engineering, the 21st Century Perspective said in proffering solutions to our needs, the trend today was in Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Devices, Augmented Reality, Empower Edge and Smart Spaces and that an engineer must be well grounded in the various advances. He mentioned that Nigeria must engage herself in the trend if she must be relevant and improve on the lives of her citizens.

The Ikot Ekpene chapter chairman Engr Nsikak John Affiah said he was ready together with his Exco and members to develop the electrical and electronic engineers and students professionally to be able to compete with others in a changing environment by adhering to the best engineering practices.
Among dignitaries that grace the event were Senator Ibok Essien, Proprietor and Visitor, Ritman University, Prof Celestine Ntuen, Vice Chancellor Ritman University, Engr Etido Inyang, Chairman Ibom Power, Chapter chairmen and members of the National Exco. APWEN leadership was also present. The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom state was ably represented by Engr Francis Ekpo.
