Apple’s credit card is a delicate snowflake.
The tech titan’s new Apple Card may be made of titanium, but it requires utmost tender loving care when being cleaned, according to the official instructions.
“If your titanium Apple Card comes into contact with hard surfaces or materials, it’s possible that the coating can be damaged,” reads the intensely detailed “How to clean your Apple Card” explainer.
Furthermore, cards should not come into contact with leather or denim, as the materials may permanently discolor the card’s white finish.
Be warned: Household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia and abrasives are also all too harsh for the dainty card — Apple instructs owners to “gently wipe with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free microfiber cloth.”
Twitter was fast to mock the cleaning specifications in a series of jokes, GIFs and memes that are quickly going viral. Washington Post reporter Tony Romm tweeted.
Another user compared the instructions to a museum exhibition.
“Don’t put the Apple Card in your wallet. Hang in a floating glass frame in a dimly lit, year round 70 degree, humidity controlled location. No flash photography please,” one snarky social media pro tweeted.
Many half-joked that the instructions come on the heels of Apple releasing an overpriced wallet or sleeve for card storage.
“Soon to be announced: a $500 wallet designed specifically for the Apple Card,” tweeted a critic.
