7 Moving Optical Illusions That Play Tricks On Your Brain -Lenstore

From the seemingly endless staircase to ‘The Dress’, many optical illusions have left viewers around the world baffled over the years.

Now, Lenstore has revealed seven moving illusions that play serious tricks on your brain.

“Many of these illusions are based on still photos, but moving illusions can confuse the brain even more.

“The moving parts of an illusion can trick us into missing the true portrayal of an image.”

The illusions include a seemingly ‘breathing square’, which appears to get larger and smaller as it turns, as well as the ‘Pac-Man illusion’, in which a flashing circle of red dots appears to disappear the longer you stare at it.

Meanwhile, another illusion of two pears will have you questioning your sense of colour.

To help put your mind at ease, Lenstore has also included handy explanations for each illusion, which help to explain how the image tricks your brain.

The illusions are embedded above, or you can view them here .

Optics4Kids explained: “Optical Illusions can use colour, light and patterns to create images that can be deceptive or misleading to our brains.

“The information gathered by the eye is processed by the brain, creating a perception that in reality, does not match the true image.

“Perception refers to the interpretation of what we take in through our eyes. Optical illusions occur because our brain is trying to interpret what we see and make sense of the world around us.

“Optical illusions simply trick our brains into seeing things which may or may not be real.”
