9mobile Set To Develop Local Expertise In Telecoms Engineering

Telecoms company, 9mobile, says it is re-introducing its Telecommunications Engineering Postgraduate Programme to develop local expertise with regard to telecommunications engineering skills.

The telecoms company, in a statement, described 9TEPP as a master’s programme situated in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and is implemented in partnership with Plymouth University in the United Kingdom.

The company noted that 9TEPP, launched in 2013 with the initial five-year period ending in 2018 but was extended for a further period, had produced 33 Masters and three PhD graduates.

Acting Managing Director, 9mobile, Stephane Beuvelet, said the company included the migration of 9TEPP to an online platform to enable as many interested Nigerians as possible to study online.

He added that 9mobile would also build a digital academy that would be dedicated to the training of more Nigerians in Information and Communication Technology.

“Nigeria’s telecoms industry has witnessed phenomenal growth and has become more diversified. The telecoms industry needs more specialists and focusing on telecommunications engineering alone won’t be very beneficial for both postgraduate education and the industry,” Beuvelet said.
