He broke-down the rigorous processes of standards development from inception to publication to implementation and also gave a clear-cut analysis on the challenges that have prevented the active participation of professionals and experts in the development of standards. A major implicated factor being the poor economic state that hinders access to adequate funding, research tools, and an overall stimulating environment that would foster such innovations. He emphasized on the need for collaboration from all sectors of the economy to bring about the desired change when it comes to standards development stating that sole reliance on international bodies to create the standards we use is not a building block for growth and should therefore not be encouraged. He ended his presentation by giving his recommendations on how Nigerians in the industry can become active in standards creation and the essential tools that would foster and drive them.
