Artisanal Mining of cassiterite is one tedious activity that is carried out daily. It involves daily extraction of economic mineral deposit through the use of primitive tools like shovel, digger, spade etc. The continuous extractive act by these artisans tend not to bother the Government of Nigeria and as such, there is no detailed record that collates the quantity of cassiterite mined and processed per day. The Industrialization of any nation cannot be complete until her iron and steel industry is fully developed and this can come to light if the Government see the need to encourage miners in the country. Metallic mineral deposits are located in different parts of the country. For instance, Cassiterite (Tin), Tantalite, Columbite (Niobium),Zircon, Ilmenite, Wolframite are buried in the bowels of Plateau State, Nasarawa State, Kaduna State etc. This research aims to bring solutions that would play a decisive role in developing and adapting metallurgical processes for component production of steel and other engineering alloys from products of these artisans thereby creating a job for the unemployed and also boosting the nation’s economy. With this in view, contributions from Material Engineers shall lead to Component Production in Nigeria.
