What are the factors responsible for building collapse in Nigeria?

It is not that buildings do not collapse in other countries, the difference is just that in these other parts they know the life-span of a building and this helps them decide when the building needs to be pulled down and not waiting for it to collapse.

Asides from the incessant issues of building collapse, what other challenges exist in the built industry?

Well, this platform brings consumers and end-users in direct contact with CEOs which allows them to get clarification on the products and services the companies provide.

As regards the number of Nigerian-owned building product manufacturers, what do you think is the reason for us not having a lot of them?

We have Nigerians but at the same time, we do not have to deceive ourselves as we are a developing country and we do not have the technical know-how which these foreign companies have. All we need do is to encourage them to establish themselves here, have a ware-house, and train us.

What are the mitigating factors that can help to combat these issues present in the industry?

We need the government to encourage locally-owned businesses like SMEs, also issues on VAT, if it is too high it stagnates or completely prevents people from doing business and foreigners who come here, once they see stringent VAT and regulations, it makes them leave the country.
