Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University To Get ICT Infrastructure

The efforts to encourage capacity building and development of manpower in the ICT sector by all and sundry in Nigeria continues to multiply. Although not being the first of this sort of intervention, Huawei Technologies Companies is set to once again erect a state-of-the-art ICT facility at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi with the hopes of fostering and catching young talents in the field, who would, in turn, contribute to the growing network of highly skilled tech labour force.

The ICT Academy program which originally started in 2017 has grown to see several inaugurations in over 70 higher institutions of learning in the federation and not only do the students get trained but they are also given globally-recognized certificates and there is also the future-near plan to include placements in several Huawei affiliated organizations under different schemes including the famous National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The company has shown commitment and is steadfast towards its vision of transforming Nigeria into a major ICT hub through its interventions and initiatives. This they intend to achieve by fostering more training, providing labs and sophisticated equipment for hands-on experiences, and more infrastructure.

Stating clearly that the companies focus is not only on students, but the company also stated that they have been able to equip over 18,000 ICT engineers in Nigeria.
