Android Users Should Delete These Apps Or Face Terrible Consequences

They’re designed to help you create secure connections over the Internet, but experts have warned Android users about several dangerous VPN apps.

Researchers from VPNPro have discovered major vulnerabilities in ten of the most popular free VPN apps on the Google Play Store, including SuperVPN Free VPN Client.

Worryingly, the app has already been downloaded more than 100 million times.

In a blog about the findings, Jan Youngren, a researchers at VPNPro explained: “Our analysis shows that this app has critical vulnerabilities that opens it up to dangerous attacks known as man-in-the-middle (MITM) hacks.

“These vulnerabilities will allow hackers to easily intercept all the communications between the user and the VPN provider, letting the hackers see everything the user is doing.”

A VPN, or virtual private network, is supposed to keep your online activities private. However, it seems that SuperVPN Free VPN Client actually does quite the opposite.

Mr Youngren explained: “What this VPN app has done is to leave its users, people seeking extra privacy and security, to actually have less privacy and security than if they’d used no VPN at all.”

According to the researchers, the implications of having the app could be ‘pretty dire.’

Mr Youngren added: “Based on our research, more than 105 million people could right now be having their credit card details stolen, their private photos and videos leaked or sold online, every single minute of their private conversations recorded and sent to a server in a secret location.

Worryingly, SuperVPN Free VPN Client isn’t the only dangerous app identified by the experts – they also found similar vulnerabilities in 10 other VPN apps (scroll down for the full list).

Based on the findings, the researchers are urging users to delete the apps from their smarthpones.

Mr Youngren advised: “ If you’ve installed any of these dangerous VPN apps, you should delete them immediately.”
