Stakeholders Set To Promote Sustainable Energy Growth

Stakeholders in the energy sector will converge on Lagos next month to examine how to facilitate investments in sustainable electrification, clean energy growth and efficient energy technologies.

The organisers of the 5th Nigeria Energy Forum said in a statement that the programme would also focus on off-grid sector in Nigeria.

A former National Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Mr Adekunle Makinde, was quoted as saying that the forum would have a capacity building workshop on scaling up the off-grid sector in Nigeria which would be delivered by USAID Power Africa Nigeria Power Sector Programme.

According to the statement, an Energy Innovation competition for energy start-ups, which has attracted over 70 entries from about 10 different countries in Africa, will take place at the event.

The Chairman of the Forum, Mr Oluwole Adeuyi, said, “This year’s forum will address key themes pertinent to accelerating clean energy growth, increasing distributed generation connections and facilitating private investments for sustainable energy development in Nigeria.”

According to the statement, 30  speakers will be participating at the

forum including the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, All On, Nigeria, Dr Weibe Boer; the MD/CEO, Energy Inc. Advisors, Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani; the General Manager, Solarquick, Nigeria, Sade Fagbola; and the Chief Commercial Officer, IHS Towers, Nigeria, among others.

It said keynote speakers at the forum would include the governors of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Ondo states, and the MD/CEO, Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Mr Chiedu Ugbo.
