As events continue to unfold following the outbreak turned pandemic, COVID-19 has continued to put a halt to the ongoings globally. The tail end of the measures taken to prevent putting more people in danger has resulted in several imposed sanctions and safety measures to quarantine and curb the spread of the virus by ensuring limited contact among the general public and ‘social distancing’.
Accordingly, the Lagos state government, His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered that gatherings with individuals over 50 must not hold during this time, and in line with this directive many events have had to be postponed including the upcoming 2020 Nigeria Energy Forum (NEF) which was slated to hold on the 21st of March 2020.
The organizers of the event have released a statement to this effect stating that “the decision was made after extensive review of the global health and safety situation and our commitment to supporting governments and public health professionals in the ongoing efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreak” while proposing September 9-10 as the new date, however this date “will be subject to continuous review as the health and safety situation evolves, and we will clearly communicate any relevant information to you over the coming weeks” the notice read.
