Coronavirus Rumor Claims ‘5G Triggers Virus’ – False Conspiracy Debunked

The claims about 5G causing coronavirus are also circulating on social media, with many indicating that 5G ‘causes coronavirus’ by ‘sucking oxygen out of your lungs’

With coronavirus cases now in their millions, unsurprisingly many conspiracy theories about the virus are circulating.

One of the most dangerous theories claims that 5G technology causes coronavirus.

One local resident, who did not want to be named, said: “A lot of people don’t want 5G in the area, I’m not surprised somebody torched it.”

The claims about 5G causing coronavirus are also circulating on social media, with many indicating that 5G ‘causes coronavirus’ by ‘sucking oxygen out of your lungs.’

A post on Facebook to the ‘Stop 5G UK’ page explained: “Wuhan is where 5G was rolled out.

“What if all we are seeing in Wuhan is sickness from exposure to excessive 5G radiation, and weakened immune systems?”

Meanwhile, a video doing the rounds on Facebook and Twitter shows a woman claiming that 5G ‘sucks oxygen out of your lungs.’

The woman, whose identity remains unclear, said: “5G absorbs oxygen, and that’s really important to know.

“On your oxygen molecules, the little electrons, with 5G they start to oscillate. So 5G is absorbing the oxygen and then your haemoglobin can’t take up the oxygen.

While Wuhan does have some 5G coverage, there’s absolutely no evidence of a link between the network and the virus.

Last month, a radiation watchdog confirmed that 5G networks are completely safe.

The International Commission on Non‐Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), which assesses the risks of radio broadcasts, tested a high-frequency version of 5G which is coming to Europe.

Dr Eric van Rongen, chair of the ICNIRP said: “We know parts of the community are concerned about the safety of 5G and we hope the updated guidelines will help put people at ease.

“The guidelines have been developed after a thorough review of all relevant scientific literature, scientific workshops and an extensive public consultation process.

“They provide protection against all scientifically substantiated adverse health effects due to exposure in the 100 kHz to 300 GHz range.”

Instead, their analysis suggests that that the virus is the product of natural evolution.

Dr Kristian Andersen, an author of the study, said: “By comparing the available genome sequence data for known coronavirus strains, we can firmly determine that SARS-CoV-2 originated through natural processes.”
