DORIS Group, Schneider Electric, and AVEVA have agreed to jointly deliver digital twin technology for the upstream oil and gas sector.
The companies aim to offer new solutions to support oil and gas organizations improve the performance of their facilities and maximize return on capital on projects.
They will combine their engineering capabilities to provide an asset lifecycle software solution and digital specialization in order to create a fully formed digital twin. The goals are to:
- Develop software that improves collaboration and increases engineering efficiencies
- Deliver enhanced safety leading to better business outcomes
- Improve traceability through a single point of accountability
- Enable remote operations and production assurance through a fully functional living digital twin that mirrors all aspects of the operating asset.Â
According to the trio, oil and gas facility owner/operators have typically struggled with the digital transformation due to the lack of a structured, as no single vendor currently delivers what is needed to achieve this.
Another challenge is managing large amounts of data of various types, from different sources which can lead to data inaccuracy and incompatibility, as well as difficulties in identifying trends.
At the same time the sector is under pressure to quantify, track and reduce carbon dioxide emissions and to cut pollution in general, as tasks are made more difficult by limited monitoring, no established method, and no data-driven decision making.
The three companies aim to help the industry address these challenges via their structured digital and collaborative solution.
