Ghana Sanctions Offshore Keta Basin 3D Seismic Survey

TG-GeoPartners will start acquisition early next year of a new 3D multi-client seismic survey over Ghana’s offshore Keta basin.

The 10-month program, supported by the country’s Petroleum Commission, will involve shooting of 14,000 sq km (5,405 sq mi) of 3D long-offset broadband seismic over open blocks.

Final processed volumes should be available in both time and depth by 2Q 2022. Managing director Thomas Tsiboe-Darko said the basin was “relatively underexplored, but highly prospective…Whilst the primary play will undoubtedly be the late Cretaceous turbiditic channels found in Jubilee, we are also excited about the possibility of extensive late Cretaceous and Tertiary basin floor fans containing very large volumes of hydrocarbons, which could exceed the existing discoveries offshore Ghana.

“Application of our new imaging technologies is required to improve subsurface understanding and increase exploration success rates.
