NSE Recommends Regionalization Of The Transmission Grid Network

The Nigerian Society of Engineers Presidential Committee on National Power Supply set up by her President, Engr Babagana Mohammed has submitted its report  which now forms the official position of NSE on National Power Supply.

The 13 man Committee chaired by Engr. Prof. Abubakar S. Sambo made far reaching recommendations among which included the regionalization of the transmission grid network,

energy planning, via use of energy modelling tools for projecting demand and supply, need for the expansion of the energy mix from the current two sources of gas and hydro to also include coal, nuclear, solar, wind and biofuels,  take steps to facilitate the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill into law to ensure, amongst others, the conclusion of exploration activities in highly potential inland basins outside the Niger Delta like the Benin Basin, Enugu Basin, Lake Chad Basin, Upper Benue Trough, Bida Basin and Sokoto Basin.
