Ghana has a total of 2 billion barrels of oil left to drill before the country’s hydrocarbons get depleted, the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has revealed.
In 2010, the country lifted its first oil cargo of 1.1m barrels, and 10 years down the line, 420 million barrels have been produced
Ghana’s first oil field, Jubilee, was followed by the TEN and Sankofa Gye Nyame field
According to PIAC, the Ghanian government has earned US$6.2bn since production began in the first half of 2020.
9% of the total revenue has been saved for the next generation, in line with the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (PRMA).
