SecureID Receives GSMA Certification

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has showered encomiums on the Chief Executive Officer of SecureID, manufacturer of smart cards, Kofo Akinkugbe, as the company bagged the GSM Association certificate.

Pantami who was represented by the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Umar Danbatta, said Akinkugbe had set a precedent for other Nigerians, according to a statement on Tuesday.

The minister urged Nigerians to patronise the company’s products which he said met the international standards like their counterparts abroad.

“We must patronise our own products produced to the same international standards by such companies. I think it is a testimony of the high standard that they have set in the way and manner they produce their solutions,” he said.

Akinkugbe, while appreciating the honour, said the certification meant that the company had followed security protocols.

She noted that in the banking sector as well, the company had been certified by Visa and Mastercard and now had the GSMA certification for the SIM cards.

She also said the firm had created a subsidiary, SID Digital, that focused on digital solutions.

Speaking on SID Digital, she said, “We have the subsidiary that we have just created only focuses on digital solution.
