Blue Apple has announced 9 finalists for this year’s 2021 National Engineering Science and Technology Essay Competition. The finalists emerged through a rigorous process that screened many of the submitted papers.
The organizer received entries from students across the country with two female students making it to the final stage in this year’s competition. Entries were received from undergraduate students studying engineering courses in institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
In a call for paper Instructions signed by the Technical Committee Chairman, Professor Tolu Akinbuleri early this year, the objectives of the competition were listed to include unlocking the untapped potentials among the youths in the field of engineering; promoting research among engineering students; encouraging and developing capacity for technical paper and essay writing in line with global best standards; introducing the students into mainstream trending and advances in engineering science and technology and creating global opportunities for students to showcase their talents.
The event is one of a three-prong approach designed in the Integrated National Technology Blueprint by the initiator to set the frontier for the nation’s technological development.
The maiden event of the competition was held in 2019 at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos with 13 finalists.
This year’s event will be held in Abuja to announce the winners. According to the organizer, it is to allow ease of logistics. The event which is traditionally held in the second week of November is scheduled to hold early next year to accommodate other activities.
Blue Apple has the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, NIEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE (Nigeria Section), Wuraola Atinuke Owolabi Capacity Building Initiative, waao as partners.
