10 Megawatt Katsina Wind Farm Commissions In December

The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, has said the Federal Government is set to commission the 10 megawatts Katsina wind farm on December 18.

According to a statement by the ministry, the minister stated this when he received the Katsina State Elders’ Forum in Abuja, saying the delay in commissioning the key power projects was due to security challenges.

Mr Abubakar expressed the determination of the Buhari administration to revamp all sectors of the economy, particularly the power sector.

He noted that vandalised turbines of the 10mw wind farm project in Katsina slowed down the completion of the project.

The minister said since his assumption of duty as minister, he had directed the commencement of work on the project to meet the December 18 proposed date of commissioning.

While appealing to Katsina elders for prayers to support the present administration in its effort to improve the economy, he pleaded for change of attitudes of Nigerians, stating that brotherliness, oneness is the panacea for development.

Speaking earlier, the acting chairman, Katsina State Elders’ Forum, Abba Turaki, congratulated the minister on his elevation as a senior minister.

He said the forum is concerned with the development of Katsina State and is on a follow up meeting on pending issues as regards power projects yet to be completed.

He further said that the forum was confident on the early completion of the projects owing to the trajectory of achievement of the minister before his assumption of office as minister of Power.
