Nigerian National Committee Of IEC Elect New Officers

The Nigerian National Committee of the International Electro-technical Commission has elected new officers to man its affairs. The newly elected president,  Dr Ade Ogunsola has represented the country on TC 77 Electromagnetic Compatibility for several years.

Three members of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers were also elected as Vice Presidents. They are Engr Akan Michael, Vice President, Young Professionals, Engr Gufrah Shuaib, Vice President, Standards and Engr Hafeez Ajibade, Vice President, Conformity Assessment.

They are to assume duty immediately.

Speaking at the event, the outgoing President, Engr Dr Ayodele Esan who has served for 15 years said he was happy to see new officers taking over and pray for strength and commitment on the part of the officers. He reminded the new officers that the responsibility was voluntary and believed given the fact that they have been involved in standards activities for some time now they will deliver on the new assignment.

Engr Richard Akinwumi, Director, Marketing the outgoing secretary spoke elaborately on the activities of the IEC- Nigerian National Committee and advised the elected officials to work hard to ensure that the proposed 11 IEC mirror committees are active and also improve the nation’s rating on IEC

Engr Akan Michael, the National Chairman, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers,  on behalf of the newly elected officers thanked the management of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria for sustaining the National Committee and the support given it over the years and pledged the commitment of the inaugurated committee members to the responsibility before it.

The new secretary of the committee is now Engr Cherry Achema, Group Head, electrical, Standards Organisation of Nigeria.
