The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructures, NASENI, says the Nigerian economy can only grow if Nigerians begin to patronise home-made innovations, adding that the agency has now increased the use of home-grown technologies to drive sustainable development in Nigeria.
NASENI disclosed this yesterday at the ongoing 19th Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Trade Fair in the Federal Capital Territory.
The agency’s Director of Information, Mr. Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, said NASENI is committed to transforming Nigeria’s economy through local technological advancements.
He said, “NASENI is the only federal agency dedicated to research and development, production, and manufacturing of essential technologies, and our goal is to develop home-grown capacities that lead to genuine industrialisation and sustainable economic growth.
“As such, our mandate and the economy in general will thrive if Nigerians turn their attention to patronage of homegrown innovations, which is why we are participating at the trade fair, which serves as a platform for NASENI to showcase its innovative products, including its transformer, solar CCTV systems, and automated equipment for agriculture, such as the rice thresher and fish dryer. These technologies are not only innovative but also critical in addressing the needs of our local industries,” Ayeoyenikan said.
