Several arguments and discussions have been advanced on 5G network recently. It has been one of the most searched topics on google next to Covid19 pandemic which has arisen an instinct of fear, and anxiety in the world and brought about questions on if the trending on social media is a conspiracy or just a new development in technology.
The claim that 5G can spread the coronavirus has led to dozens of cell-tower being attacked in Europe. Now, the US telecom industry is being issued warning as well.
According to WIRED, the preposterous claim that 5G can spread the coronavirus, either by suppressing the immune system or by directly transmitting the virus over radio waves, led to dozens of tower burnings in the UK and mainland Europe. Now, the DHS “is preparing to advise the US telecom industry on steps it can take to prevent attacks on 5G cell towers following a rash of incidents in Western Europe fueled by the false claim that the technology spreads the pathogen causing Covid-19,” The Washington Post reported last week.
Several writers like Youngshaq, Mikeechol and others have written their views on what to expect from the 5G network. One stressed on the biblical reference of 5G network as the development that will lead to the mark of the beast stated in the bible while other sees it as an enabler which will bring a new era of change in technology that will make things easier. Yet we are still left with the same question on what to believe.
Webinar series on 5G held recently by the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), the National Chairman Engr. Kings Adeyemi stated that the 5G network is not bioagent of the Covid19 as people believed neither is it a network that can cause death or a means of infectant that kills people.
However, where do the theories of 5G network being a means to bring to past the prophecies written in Revelations chapter 13, which states that once you accept the mark of the beast, you are doomed forever meet? The theory lacks scientific merit as all dogmatic speculations do. Therefore, was the theory stated out of fear or out of the pandemic era situation we are in?
Shaq who wrote the book “The 5G Pandemic”, said in his book which can be found in Wattpad books that the 5G network is a conspiracy to fulfil biblical prophesies, and at last pages, he mentioned that he might be killed by powerful people because of what has been revealed.
We have to admit that at every turn of a new technology era, inimical theories, rumours and speculations buried in fear always rave the moment. It withers off with time while mankind continues to make progress without looking back.
Right from time, we have come to know that technology is our friend and truly, it has helped us in making life easier, better and faster. Even the society at large has been nurtured to rely on technology. Our families which are the primary institution have also been and now are dependant on technology to the extent that the duties of each parent to children can be performed by robots which is an improvement of technology. We can say technological development has grown out of the need to satisfy our needs in fulfilling obligations in all aspects of lives.
Nevertheless, technology is created by us and similarly has grown due to us. It has also lead to some inevitability or adverse effects to man. Though some will say its the users’ fault for the shortcomings, man can never be too careful.
However, like any groundbreaking technology, there are unimaginable threats and consequences as the speed of the connectivity of 5G will vastly increase the amount of data gathered from sensors and devices located in our cities. There would be a new level of change which brings to my conclusion that before deploying 5G network, let us further ascertain its safety to health and the environment.
