Students from the Princeton College, Lagos, Nigeria (all female), emerged winners of the 2019 African regional Technovation Contest.
The students; Miss Daniella Ekekwe (Grade 11); Miss Gbopemioluwa Olukoga (Grade 11); Miss Victory Yinka-Banjo (Grade 11); and Miss TanyalouiseEkekwe (Grade 12), who are also under the coaching of the school’s ICT partner ‘New Horizons Computer Learning Centre’, attended the contest at Pan Atlantic University Lagos, Nigeria. They developed Frostbits, an app that will help curb obstructive parking in Lagos and across states in Nigeria
Frostbits will leverage the use of location sensors, database, and app inventor’s interface. Through this app, users will be able to park their cars seamlessly without worrying about interference from other drivers. This innovation came out tops at the Senior Division Regional 2019 Technovation contest.
Princeton Schools Education Director, Dr (Mrs) Dolapo Bankole said their vision as a school is to bring forth students with sharpened 21st-century skills. Skills that will span across Sciences and Technology. She said the skills will enable the students to compete effectively with their counterparts in Europe, America, and Asia.
The chief executive officer, New Horizons, Mr. Tim Akano, said they are happy to be part of Princeton’s success and they look forward to them achieving a bigger international achievement in the future.
