The Ogun state government has shown its commitment to the growth and development of the state and those that live in it by investing and building a digital hub. The initiative is to encourage and give the young and talented indigenes and individuals in the society at large, the wherewithal to make good use of their problem-solving abilities to create and implement solutions to the various problems plaguing the country – through technology. This was not a ‘one-man’ effort as there were collaborations with stakeholders in both the private and public sectors, to bring the vision to fruition.
This project hopes to challenge the innovative thinking of persons in the technological field – in whatever capacity, and to stimulate the minds of those with raw talent while bringing about value-creation, a platform for networking, a learning base, and a spring-board for those who will do exploits.
It is expected that the youths would avail themselves of this opportunity by taking advantage to bring about ground-breaking innovations.
Five days were dedicated to launching the centre from the 2nd to the 6th of September, 2019. It was a free-for-all event taking place at Ogun Tech Hub beside President Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Abeokuta. The theme of the week-long program was titled ‘Building a sustainable future on the bedrock of innovation and technology; a step in the right direction’.
