Manta5 Launches Electric Bike, Lets You Cycle On Water

Manta5 has launched a new electric bike at the CES technology conference in Las Vegas, which can be cycled on water

Going for a cycle can be a great way to relax, and now a new vehicle means that the days of being confined to land could be a thing of the past.

Manta5 has launched a new electric bike at the CES technology conference in Las Vegas, which can be cycled on water.

Its designers hope that the bike can redefine cycling and watersports, and envision riders using it on rivers, lakes and ocean shorelines.

Greg Johnston, CEO at Manta, said: “Mastering the Manta5 is like cycling for the first time. It might take a few attempts, but once you get the hang of it, hydrofoiling is a lot of fun.”

The bike features carbon fibre foils and a full waterproof battery and motor

Meanwhile, the bike is made from carbon fibre and aluminium, making it buoyant and light enough to carry.

If you fancy more of a workout, you can dial down the 460-watt electric motor to experience a workout similar to a road or mountain bike, or if you’re feeling more lazy, you can crank up the motor.

Unsurprisingly, the eBike isn’t cheap, with prices starting at an eye-watering £6,833.

However, if that hasn’t put you off, you can pre-order the eBike now, with delivery expected in June 2020.

Mr Johnston added: “We’re thrilled to offer even more riders the chance to master cycling at its most innovative – a surreal and uninterrupted experience on the water.”
