Huawei Phones To Have Chinese OS

Huawei says its mobile phones will have the HarmonyOS instead of Android next year, reports the Nikkei.

Harmony has been in development for eight years.

”We are going to release all the development kits for smartphones this December,” added Yu. Huawei has 1.8 million developers. Huawei’s AppGallery contains 70,000 international apps.

“Huawei is now experiencing the third round of the U.S. crackdown but we are still maintaining growth in all of our products in smartphones, tablets, wearables … and we don’t think anyone could put the starlight out of the sky,” said Yu “every one of our developers is a star, and together they form a brilliant array. That will light the way.”

Huawei was the world’s biggest supplier of mobile phones in Q2.

Harmony could also be used on other consumer products, said Yu.

The same name, Hongmeng,  that translates into English as Harmony means Chaos in Chinese which could exemplify  the subtlety of the Chinese sense of humour.

Last April, Huawei CEO  Ren Zhengfei said that Hongmeng could take a long time to surpass Android and iOS, but it will not exceed 300 years.
