SON Intensifies Fight Against Substandard Products

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has vowed to ensure that substandard products are eliminated from markets in the country in order to have good quality products within and those for exportation.

The Director-General of the SON, Malam Faruk Salim stated this during a four-day inspection tour of some indigenous companies in Kano.

Speaking in one of the industries, the DG urged them to always adhere to standards.

He said, “At SON, quality is our moving target and we want to ensure that our indigenous companies are working in line with standards so that they can compete with international products imported into the country and even compete with them in international markets.”

He said SON has commissioned its training centre in Kano to support indigenous industries and train them on methods of standardising their indigenous products to meet their criteria and excel in the world.
He added that they had secured a license to approve Halal food production in the country for exportation to Arabian countries.
