Young innovators in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) who are developing climate technology solutions have been invited by the Youth Climate Innovation Labs to participate in a three-day launchpad.
The best projects will receive a 6–8 week Climate Innovation Academy Programme to help them develop their businesses.
In certain industries and technological disciplines, the initiative will examine design thinking approaches to generate and test creative solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation.
The Youth Climate Innovation Lab is a three-day event where young innovators from the MENA area interact with professionals in climate technology, entrepreneurship, and business. It is a partnership between the UN Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), SAFEEM, and Seedstars.
In order to address the dangers posed by climate change to the MENA area, the program will also assist participants in developing their entrepreneurial skills.
“It is time to equip our youth with the knowledge and tools to drive climate change efforts,” said Mohamad Fanous, program manager for MENA at Seedstars. “Governments across the MENA region are leapfrogging their country towards oil-independent economies.
