Mr James R. Snyder, who was the last living co-founder of the Project Management Institute. Called “The Father of PMI” by many, Jim passed away peacefully on 19th February surrounded by his family. A true visionary, our esteemed founder, and leader, Mr. James R. “Jim” Snyder. Affectionately known as ‘The Father of PMI,’ Jim’s departure leaves a void that words can hardly fill. His legacy transcends time, leaving an everlasting mark on the project management profession and the world at large.
As the first CEO and one of the last living co-founders of the Project Management Institute (PMI) in 1969, Jim’s leadership was instrumental in propelling PMI to become the premier global organization for project management professionals. Over the past 55 years, his unwavering commitment and strategic insights enabled PMI to reinvent itself continually, emerging as the leading authority in project management worldwide. Jim’s impact has been felt by millions, as PMI became a catalyst for upskilling and reskilling project professionals across diverse industries and in every corner of the globe.
Jim’s contributions extended far beyond the realms of PMI. During his distinguished 37-year career at GlaxoSmithKline, he championed excellence in computer sciences, operations research, finance, and international marketing.
