SpaceX successfully launched 28 Starlink satellites from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The mission, designated Starlink 6-91, lifted off at 2:28 a.m. EDT (0628 UTC) using a Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40).
The Falcon 9 first stage booster, tail number B1083, was used for this mission. It was flying for the 11th time, having previously supported missions including Crew-8, Polaris Dawn, and Intuitive Machines’ Nova-C lander.
After launch, the booster successfully landed on the droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” in the Atlantic Ocean approximately eight minutes after liftoff. This marked the 108th booster landing for this particular droneship and the 444th overall booster landing for SpaceX.
The upper stage continued to low Earth orbit, where the 28 Starlink V2 Mini Optimized satellites were deployed. These satellites will join the ever-growing Starlink constellation, currently numbering over 7,400 operational satellites.
This launch was SpaceX’s 38th Starlink mission of 2025 and the 55th Falcon 9 launch of the year.
The mission also marked SpaceX’s 250th Falcon 9 launch from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral.
The Starlink constellation is the largest satellite network ever assembled, providing global high-speed internet coverage except for the polar regions.
The launch faced some weather challenges, with a 55% chance of favorable conditions due to storms in Central Florida. However, a break in the clouds allowed for an on-time launch.
This Florida launch followed another Starlink mission from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base just six hours earlier, highlighting SpaceX’s rapid launch cadence1.
The Starlink satellites launched will spend several days maneuvering into their final orbits to join the operational constellation.
