Nigeria On Track In Achieving 20,000MW By 2021 — TCN

Nigeria is on the right track of achieving 20,000MW transmission capacity by 2021, Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed has said.

Briefing State House reporters on the activities of the company, he said they are working assiduously to increase the current 8,500 transmission capacity to 20,000 in three years’ time.

“We have established transmission, rehabilitation, and expansion programme. The main objective of this is to rehabilitate, stabilize and expand the delivery capacity of TCN to at least 20,000 megawatts by 2021 and we are on track. I believe we are going to achieve it,” he said.

He said the company has raised $1.6bn to address the infrastructural deficit in the sector from foreign financial institutions.

“We have raised $1.6bn the highest amount the power sector of the country has ever attracted,” he said.
