Weirdest Tech At MWC 2019 Including Anti-Constipation Belt, Others

Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest technology conferences, where some of the biggest smartphones are launched every year.

But while you might have heard about some of the big announcements like the Huawei Mate X and Sony Xperia 1, there are some quirkier gadgets you may have missed.

MWC did not disappoint, and there are some bizarre gadgets on display here inBarcelona.

Here are some of the quirkiest devices, including an anti-constipation belt and smart shin pads.

Anti-constipation belt

If laxatives are getting you nowhere, this bizarre belt could be the answer to your constipation needs.

The belt, called Mowoot 1, is worn around the waist, and massages your stomach to get your bowels moving.

Despite strongly resembling a Slendertone, the Mowoot 1 has a much heftier price tag than the ab-training device.

Mowoot 1 retails for 649 euros – ouch!

Smart shin-guard

From robots to driverless cars, artificial intelligence has been used in a range of exciting products.

Now, the technology has been used in shin guards for the first time

Oliver has designed a smart shin guard, which provides feedback to amateur footballers.

The shin guards collect real-time data from amateur football players, and process it through an AI algorithm to deliver football-focused insights to players.

Like the Mowoot 1, the shin guard isn’t cheap – it currently costs $199! We’ll wait to see if they catch on.

Straight-line pen

They’re specially designed to help people draw straight lines, but rulers could be a thing of the past if this pen is anything to go by.

Lainova has designed a pen that allows you to draw perfectly straight lines.

The pen, dubbed the ‘Jet Ride’, features a normal biro nib at one end, and a nib accompanied by two small rollers at the other.

It does the job, but I’m still slightly baffled as to why it’s better than a ruler.

Anti-snoring device

I genuinely did a double-take when I walked past the Godsumm stand, confused as to what the woman on it had on her face.

I quickly learned that it was a ‘Nasal Breathing Maker’ – an anti-snoring device.

The device, which strongly resembles medical tape, is strapped between your chin and philtrum (the area between your nose and mouth), essentially strapping your mouth shut.

By keeping your lips pressed together, the device opens your airways, stopping you from snoring .
