NSE Organizes Vocational Training For Unemployed Engineers

The Nigerian Society of Engineers( NSE), Victoria Island branch has embarked on an initiative to train graduate engineers and spouses as a means to bridging the unemployment gap in the society. Due to the growing unemployment rate in the country, the branch is offering free vocational trainings at VOSAP 2019 (Vocational Skills Acquisition Program) to young unemployed engineers and also members of the general public.

The branch Chairperson Engr. Rose Madaki while speaking to our correspondent said that the training which is entirely free, would cover on skills as such solar panel installation, phone and laptop repairs, event planning and decoration,soap making, plumbing, make up artistry and bag design and making. According to her, the branch was partnering with the Bank of Industry on VOSAP to provide loans to interested participants at the end of the training.
On the reasons behind organizing such training, she said that the aim was to empower job seeking engineers and their spouses with sustainable vocation to live on.

In addition to this ,Engr Christian Okorie, the Welfare Secretary of the branch said that VOSAP was an ideal program that would help build the Small and Medium Scale Enterprise (SME)in the society.

According to him, the economic challenges and unemployment have been the root cause of so many wrong happenings in the society. Hence, the best way to run such an economy is through small and medium scale enterprises.

The VOSAP 2019 runs from the 16th to the 25th of this month and would be issuing certificates at the end of the training to participants.
