KFC Reopens With New Contactless Restaurant

Kentucky Fried Chicken recently showcased its new, automated restaurant in Moscow.

In an outlet nicknamed “A restaurant of the future” by KFC, any possible interactions between customers and staff are reduced to the bare minimum.

After the food is cooked, a firm and precise robotic hand puts the order into the box which can be opened by a code given to the customer. To pay for the food one can use both bank cards or face biometric data after completing a registration process.

KFC representative, Dmitry Ageev said the company built the new outlet before the outbreak of coronavirus made its methods a hygienic way to order food.

For more than two months, restaurants in the Russian capital have been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. On Tuesday part of the city’s restrictions were lifted, permitting to serve clients in the open-air terraces.

Moscow has over 200,000 confirmed coronavirus cases as well as 3,597 coronavirus-related deaths, according to the official data.
