Belgian mobile network operators Orange and Proximus have picked Nokia to build 5G networks in Belgium as they drop Huawei
Ericsson will also supply equipment for the core of the two companies’ 5G infrastructure.
Concern had been expressed that, with Belgium hosting the European Commission, it was particularly important to have trusted vendors for its telecoms networks.
Huawei has been designated a high risk vendor.
The UK has banned Huawei from its network and France has putin place restrictions which effectively bar Huawei.
Germany is still sitting on the fence.
