Hong Kong VC Deep Knowledge Ventures has assessed various countries’ safety in respect of the coronavirus based on 76 parameters, reports the Nikkei.
Some parameters are obvious – like cases, deaths, geographic size, demographics, hospital capacity and medical expertise, others less obvious — like “GovTech” or e-government systems and defense capabilities.
Israel won. Singapore was second, New Zealand third, Hong Kong fourth, Taiwan fifth. Japan sixth, with Hungary, Austria, Germany and South Korea rounding out the top 10.
Israel has had over 8,000 infections but only 47 deaths as of Sunday,
Israel was slow to mandate wearing masks in public and to implement widespread testing. However, when Asia showed these were effective ways to tackle the virus, Mossad bought millions of masks and thousands of test kits from classified sources.
